Grass clippings are not a big trouble for cars and other four-wheeled vehicles, but for motorcyclists, it can be a huge risk. Yes, it may be a surprise for you, but grass clipping can also cause motorcycle accidents. One of the lesser-known road dangers is grass clippings. For motorcyclists, there are many dangers on the road, such as puddles, potholes, and ice. Remember, because motorcycles are so much. Inexperienced bikers often try to keep up with their friends, or they have the “ego” factor or they are simply trying to prove to others how good they are – and fail in the process. Also, be aware of grass clippings and other yard debris on the road that can make for slippery road conditions. These clippings are not getting cleaned up, and no one thinks about this from the perspective of a motorcycle rider. Once the grass clippings dry out on the road, they still produce a barrier between the road’s surface and a motorcyclist’s tires which has been described as affecting a motorcycle like ice. This is also happening on state highways. Clumps of moist grass in the roadway is similar to a grease spot when driven over by a motorcycle. Most people dont realize it, but grass clippings, especially freshly cut. How many times have we seen motorcyclist(s) speeding or weaving through traffic? Speeding is a major contributing factor in many accidents. What we’re seeing is that mainly residents in county roads where folks are mowing the lawn, are blowing grass clips onto the road. Fresh cut grass clippings in the street can pose hazard to motorcycle riders.
